7070-78 Clark Street Auction

On Thursday, August 9th, at 7:30pm, the Rogers Park Chamber of Commerce President, Bill Morton, and Secretary, Autumn Davids, were sitting and patiently awaiting the auction to start for the lot that once held the historic Adelphi Theater. The auction room had seats for up to fifty people. There were twenty-six people in total there for the auction, including them.

As the first property went for it's asking price, they waited. The second property went for it's asking price as well. The third property had a lively bidding competition for the property, and with it's sale, everyone, with the exception of the Chamber members present and three others, left the room.

Someone of the three whispered "What about the Clark Street lot?" and the question was answered with "We've taken it off the auction table."

Autumn Davids asked Kelly, the gentleman who gave her a quick summary of  their organization earlier, why the Clark Street lot was not being bid on. He explained to her that the sellers had removed it from their list.

Kelly had explained to her earlier about Auction Services Group, telling her they sold commercial, residential, and other forms of property for other organizations and that they have been in businesses since 1994, which is very normal for auction companies.

The Chamber is saddened to see the lot not be bought and turned into another great theater. The Chamber has high hopes that one day the space will hold a lively business that brings Clark Street to life.

Below is the form that had to be filled out to gain entry into the auction room and photos from the event.

We Want You for Fresh Start Mondays!

Fresh Start Mondays have been occurring the first and third Monday's since this April. The event has been a success, having a variety of people attend and even more express interest.

So far, we've covered 7315 N. Sheridan Road, following that, we worked on Jarvis Plaza, then we worked on Ravenswood Center and this past Monday we covered Rogers Plaza on Morse Avenue. Our next event will be June 4th at our standard 6 pm. We will be working on the corner of Estes Avenue and Clark Street where the Adelphi Theater was once located.

If you can't make it out to the events for whatever reason, you can still help! We would gladly take donations for the event. Charmers Cafe, for example, gave us some trash bags to assist us in our endeavor and Quest allows us use of their recycle bin, broom, and dust pan.

Some of the items we need are:

Broom
Dust Pan
Trash Bags
Aprons
Face Masks
Trash Can
Recycle Can

If you'd like to donate any of these items, please, contact us at (773) 850-0049 .

Fresh Start Monday on 5/21/2012

The Rogers Park Chamber of Commerce had another successful Fresh Start Monday event on the Monday, the 21st. Rogers Plaza, located on Morse and Wayne, had a variety of trash, going from alcohol bottles, water and other beverage containers, metal wires, small pieces of broken glass, paper products, and rope.

On Monday, June 4th, 2012 at 6 pm, we will be having our fifth Fresh Start Monday event at the corner of Estes and Clark, to cover the old Adelphi Theater corner, a place desperately in need of the attention since it was turned into a hole in the ground. We hope to see you there!
