Traditional Michoacan Carnitas to benefit a College Education



On Friday June 10, 2016 starting at 6 pm, Chef Candido of Los Portales Mexican Restaurant will be serving carnitas tacos in the tradition of Zinapecuaro, Michoacan and crispy tilapia fillet tacos with spices, marinaded and fried with light beer batter. Tacos will be topped with pico red onions, serrano peppers, chipotle mayonnaise and hand-made traditional salsas.

Sunday Night Jazz Series: Jimmy Bennington Colour and Sound

Jimmy Bennington has performed and recorded with legendary artists such as Julian Priester, Perry Robinson, Ed Schuller, Bert Wilson, and Daniel Carter. In 2007, Jimmy joined the prestigious NY labels Cadence Jazz Records and CIMP as a recording artist. Bennington’s own Chicago label, ThatSwan! Records, produced the collectors items Portraits and Silhouettes featuring Julian Priester, earning recognition for ‘Best Recordings of 2007’ from AllAboutJazz- New York.

Bennington celebrated 25 years in the music field May 2015, having recently returned from two very productive visits to New York playing and recording for CIMPoL at the famed Bop Shop in Rochester and at the Shapeshifter Lab in Brooklyn as part of the Cadence Jazz Festival.
